Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Roles
Team: Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Last Update:   4/28/2024
RB Overview
Role Security: Very High
04/27/24 Rachaad White is currently the every down RB. White will be used as a runner, receiver and goal-line option. The Buccaneers used their fourth-round pick in the 2024 draft to select Bucky Irving. The rookie could have a chance to push White for early-down grinder work. Chase Edmonds and Sean Tucker will compete for depth roles during training camp.
WR Overview
04/27/24 Mike Evans was the preferred receiving option for Baker Mayfield last year. Evans should continue to lead the Buccaneers in targets. Chris Godwin is the No. 2 option. Godwin's targets were unreliable on a week-to-week basis last year. It's possible that Godwin continues to have unpredictable weekly usage. The Tampa Bay coaching staff is on record saying that Godwin will see more work in the slot than he did in 2023. If Godwin plays regularly in the slot, third-round rookie Jalen McMillan could be the favorite to line up on the outside. However, if Godwin lines up outside, Trey Palmer would take on the slot role. Deven Thompkins and Rakim Jarrett will compete for depth roles.
TE Overview
04/27/24 Cade Otton is the clear lead receiving TE. His targets were inconsistent from week-to-week last year, and that erratic usage is likely to occur again this season.
