The Sabres play three games in four nights... Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen and Alex Lyon look to be sharing the crease at this time, and if so, Luukkonen should play twice with Lyon getting one start.... The Sabres will lose Rasmus Dahlin for an unspecified time period as he has returned to Sweden to be with his fiancée, who underwent a heart transplant in the summer... Owen Power or Bowen Byram could take over quarterbacking duties on the first power play.

The Flames have lost rookie blueliner Zayne Parekh for a while, as the defenseman suffered an upper-body injury and is week-to-week after absorbing a hit Friday from Nick Foligno... Calgary recalled Daniil Miromanov from the AHL to take Parekh's spot on the roster... Yegor Sharangovich was an important cog with the Flames just two seasons ago when he had 31 goals and 59 points. He dropped to 17 goals and 32 points last season and has been even worse in 2025-26, scoring twice and adding a pair of assists in 14 games.

Bedard has 22 points, second in the NHL heading into action Saturday and his plus-10 rating is tied for seventh... Bedard was a combined minus-80 in his first two seasons in the NHL, fifth-worst in 2024-25 and tied for second-worst the previous season.

The Avalanche exploded for nine goals Saturday in an easy win over Edmonton... Scott Wedgewood continues to push for the top job with the Avalanche. Wedgewood came into the season as the No. 2 goaltender to Mackenzie Blackwood, but a lower-body injury during training camp to Blackwood gave Wedgewood the chance to start the season as No. 1 and he hasn't looked back... Wedgewood leads all goalies with nine wins and his 2.37 GAA and .906 save percentage have pushed him into the lead role at this time. Blackwood has played only once since his return and he has backed up on three occasions.

Zach Werenski has four goals and six assists in 14 games this season, great numbers for most rearguards, but well below the pace he set last season when he had 82 points in 81 games... Kirill Marchenko has eight goals and 16 points in 14 games.

Wyatt Johnston is just as hot with three goals and nine points in his last four games, giving the 22-year-old nine goals and 19 points in 15 contests... Jake Oettinger's record is fine at 6-3-1, but his peripherals are nothing to write home about with a 2.99 GAA and .893 save percentage.

The Red Wings play three games in four nights... Cam Talbot has outplayed John Gibson and is likely to get two starts with Gibson starting once... There's not too many times that you expect a seventh-round pick to make it to the NHL, especially as a 20-year-old, but Emmitt Finnie has bucked the trend and is seeing first-line action alongside Lucas Raymond and Dylan Larkin. Finnie has four goals and eight points in 15 games.

They are led by Filip Forsberg with seven... Jonathan Marchessault and Steven Stamkos were their two big offseason signings in 2024, but the duo have combined for only seven goals and three assists in the first month of this season.

The Rangers have scored only six goals at home, with five coming in a 6-5 loss to San Jose. They have been shut out five times at home in seven games. That's pitiful... Adam Fox leads New York in scoring with 11 points while Taylor Raddysh has five goals to lead the team. Who would have thought that a month ago?

Macklin Celebrini is tied for the NHL lead in points with 24, after potting his 10th goal of the season in Saturday's 3-1 win over Florida... Yaroslav Askarov, the Sharks' goalie of the future, got off to a horrible start this season and had a 1-4-1 mark with a 4.69 GAA and an .844 save percentage in his first six outings. There was plenty of talk about sending him down to the AHL to turn things around, though not necessarily from the Sharks' front office, but over his last three games he's stopped 103 of 107 shots in wins over Colorado, Detroit and Florida, not exactly the bottom-dwellers of the NHL.
