Quarterbacks 👍
Jared Goff (at WAS) — 51% started
Start Over — Caleb Williams (vs. NYG), Jordan Love (vs. PHI), Sam Darnold (vs. ARZ)
I thought Goff would beat up on a cold Vikings team last week, and while he finished with a decent fantasy line, Minnesota's defense ultimately got the best of Detroit's offense at Ford Field. One of the only other teams to do that in recent years was Washington, during last season's playoffs, with Goff averaging 7.8 YPA but turning the ball over four times. The Washington defense he'll face this week is far inferior, allowing a league-high 8.9 YPA after the humiliating SNF loss to Seattle. The Lions figure to exact a bit of revenge, though it won't feel nearly as good now that the Commanders are without Jayden Daniels (elbow) and out of the playoff hunt.
- Other Good Matchups: Jaxson Dart (at CHI), Caleb Williams (vs. NYG), Bryce Young (vs. NO), Dillon Gabriel (at NYJ)
Running Backs 👍
Quinshon Judkins (at NYJ) — 60% started
Start Over — Travis Etienne (at HOU), David Montgomery (at WAS), Kenneth Walker (vs. ARZ)
Coming out of a bye, Judkins isn't even listed on Cleveland's Week 10 injury report after hurting his shoulder back in Week 8. He'll step back in as the engine of an offense that usually can't do much else, though we could see the Browns passing game actually contribute against a Jets defense that looked incompetent long before losing its two best players at the trade deadline. Cleveland likely will be a significant underdog during the fantasy playoffs (at CHI, vs. BUF, vs. PIT), but there are some favorable matchups over the next five games (a trip to Vegas in Week 12, and a home game against Tennessee in Week 14).
Kyle Monangai (vs. NYG) — 43% started
Start Over — Tyrone Tracy (at CHI), Alvin Kamara (at CAR), RJ Harvey (vs. LV)
D'Andre Swift (groin) returned to a limited practice Wednesday and said afterward that he's playing this week, but he also seemed to acknowledge that it might not be his decision (he suggested that the team held him out last week when he wanted to at least try to play). One of the possibilities for Week 10 is Swift returning to the lineup but handling a lesser-than-usual role, with Monangai having already gained some ground in October and then exploding for 176 rushing yards this past Sunday against the Bengals in Swift's absence.
Monangai was also a limited practice participant Wednesday, listed with an ankle injury, but he'll be a reasonable fantasy start this week if both he and Swift end up getting cleared. The Giants are allowing a league-high 5.9 YPC to running backs, with only Cincinnati and Tennessee allowing more PPR points per game (24.9). It shouldn't be possible for a defense to play so poorly with Dexter Lawrence, Brian Burns, Abdul Carter and Kayvon Thibodeaux all healthy, but it keeps happening week after week, thanks in part to numerous injuries among the linebackers and defensive backs.
- Other Good Matchups: Kyren Williams (at SF), Rico Dowdle (vs. NO), J.K. Dobbins (vs. LV)
Wide Receivers 👍
Wan'Dale Robinson (at CHI) — 53% started
Start Over — Keenan Allen (vs. PIT), Jauan Jennings (vs. LAR), Quentin Johnston (vs. PIT)
Last week, Robinson had his highest slot rate (80.7% of snaps) since Week 3 and drew a team-high 11 targets, finishing with a 9-46-0 receiving line for the saddest 13.6 PPR points you'll ever see. The points still count, and this Sunday he'll face a Chicago defense that's given up a ton of production to pass catchers aligned in the slot, including a league-high nine TDs and 9.0 YPA (29th). The Bears still have two starting cornerbacks on IR, and now safety Kevin Byard (four INTs) is missing practice time with a back injury. Darius Slayton also has merit this week, coming off a 5-62-0 receiving line on seven targets in the loss to San Francisco.
Tez Johnson (vs. NE) — 6% started
Start Over — Darnell Mooney (at IND), Calvin Austin (at LAC), Jerry Jeudy (at NYJ), Jakobi Meyers (at HOU)
A lot of the interest in Johnson seems to have died out after a Week 9 bye, even though Chris Godwin (fibula) still isn't practicing and Johnson scored at least 9.4 PPR points in each of his past four games. Johnson was essentially a full-time player in the last three of those, with route shares above 74 percent each week and an average of 6.0 targets per game (18.6% target share, 25.1% air-yard share). The Patriots hadn't given up a ton of production to WRs before Drake London hit them for three TD last week, but that's partially because they've faced subpar passing attacks besides the one game at Buffalo (an impressive performance, to be fair).
- Other Good Matchups: Tetairoa McMillan (vs. NO); Courtland Sutton & Troy Franklin (vs. LV); Darius Slayton (at CHI); Quentin Johnston, Keenan Allen & Ladd McConkey (vs. PIT); Jerry Jeudy & Cedric Tillman (at NYJ), Olamide Zaccheaus (vs. NYG),
Tight Ends 👍
Dalton Kincaid (at MIA) — 54% started
Start Over — Kyle Pitts (at IND), Mark Andrews (at MIN)
With James Cook (foot) banged up, the Bills may lean on their passing game more than usual even if they jump out to a lead against a Miami defense that's ranked 28th in net yards per pass attempt (6.7) and 28th in YPC allowed (5.0). Only four teams are allowing tight ends to score more PPR points (17.2 per game), with Miami also in the bottom five for YPT (8.9) and catch rate (82.6 percent) on targets to TEs. Kincaid put up 5-66-1 against them back in Week 3, with a s season-high-tying six targets. There is still some risk from week to week, given that he's averaging 4.7 targets per game, but no TE has better per-target efficiency numbers this year, and Miami's defense is among the easiest to pick on.
- Other Good Matchups: Sam LaPorta (at WAS), Colston Loveland (vs. NYG), Harold Fannin (at NYJ), David Njoku (at NYJ), Dalton Schultz (vs. JAX)
Sit/Downgrade 👎
Quarterbacks 👎
Michael Penix (at NE) — 9% started
Start Instead — Justin Fields (at CLE), Marcus Mariota (vs. DET), Jacoby Brissett (at SEA), Aaron Rodgers (at LAC)
Coming off the first three-TD game of his career, Penix is likely to disappoint if you expect a similar performance in Week 10. The Colts rank 15th in fantasy points allowed to quarterbacks, which is impressive for a team that's faced the second-most pass attempts per game (38.7). They're now adding CB Sauce Gardner to a defense that's allowing 6.83 YPA (12th), with 2.9 sacks per game (9th) and 1.1 INTs (5th).
A tough opponent isn't even the most worrisome thing for Penix this week, with LG Matthew Bergeron (ankle) and RG Chris Lindstrom (foot) both absent from practice Wednesday after exiting early Sunday at New England. They're arguably the best guard duo in the league, whereas the backup offensive linemen on Atlanta's roster have four career NFL starts between them. Bergeron is considered week-to-week, while Lindstrom, a three-time Pro Bowler, is said to be day-to-day.
- Other Tough Matchups: Jordan Love (vs. PHI), Trevor Lawrence (at HOU), Justin Fields (vs. CLE), Mac Jones (vs. LAR) Jacoby Brissett (at SEA)
Running Backs 👎
Kimani Vidal (vs. PIT) — 53% started
Start Instead — Kenneth Walker (vs. ARZ), Woody Marks (vs. JAX), Rachaad White (vs. NE)
Omarion Hampton (knee) isn't expected back until some point after a Week 12 bye, but the situation around Vidal has otherwise grown less appealing for RB production. Offensive tackles Joe Alt (ankle) and Bobby Hart (groin) both left early this past Sunday in Tennessee, which contributed to Vidal averaging just 2.5 YPC across 12 carries, though backup Jaret Patterson averaged 4.9 YPC on his nine totes. Both backs may struggle to find room this week, facing a veteran Steelers defense that's largely been disappointing but just shut down Jonathan Taylor and the Colts. The Chargers likely will focus on exploiting a slow Pittsburgh secondary rather than trying to run the ball with a third-string RB and battered O-line.
Jacory Croskey-Merritt (vs. DET) — 35% started
Start Instead — Zach Charbonnet (vs. ARZ), Emari Demercado (at SEA), Devin Singletary (at CHI)
The Commanders may try to emphasize their RBs more now that Jayden Daniels (elbow) is out of the picture, but doing it effectively isn't the same as trying to do it, especially when facing a Detroit defense that's limiting running backs to 17.2 PPR points per game (17.2). In any case, Croskey-Merritt's lack of production since the supposed breakout game has reduced him to RB3 fantasy status, only worth starting when other options are clearly poor. Even if you're holding out hope for Croskey-Merritt in the long run, it's hard to see his role amounting to much production unless the Commanders are a good team.

Wide Receivers 👎
Jordan Addison (vs. BAL) — 54% started
Start Instead — Romeo Doubs (vs.PHI), Jauan Jennings (vs. LAR)
Addison is averaging 14.5 PPR points and facing a defense that's allowed the fifth-most points to wide receivers. That might sound like an auto-start in nearly any league, but there are a few reasons to expect a lower output this week, starting with the trend of Kevin O'Connell calling far more run plays when J.J. McCarthy is under center. I'll never be one to doubt Addison's talent, and he consistently makes at least one big play per game, but the volume probably won't be there in positive/neutral game script, and poor passing efficiency is likely to be a big part of the problem if Minnesota falls behind.
Jakobi Meyers (at HOU) — 27% started
Start Instead — Alec Pierce (vs. ATL), Tre Tucker (at DEN), Parker Washington (at HOU)
Injuries have thinned out Jacksonville's WR room to the point where Meyers could have a full-time role even if he needs to be told his assignment before most snaps because he's still getting up to speed. Acknowledging that possibility, Meyers is still better left on fantasy benches for anyone with decent alternatives. He hasn't played well this season, and his first matchup for Jacksonville is a road game against arguably the best defense in the league. The Texans have limited opposing WRs to 26.0 PPR points per game (3rd), 7.05 YPT (6th) and a 54.1% catch rate (1st). With QB Davis Mills starting on the other side, Jaguars coach Liam Coen may lean on his running game and defense more than usual, trying to grind out a low-scoring win while mitigating the impact of Houston's dominant pass rushers.
- Other Tough Matchups: Marvin Harrison (at SEA), Jaylen Waddle (vs. BUF), Darnell Mooney (at IND), Parker Washington (at HOU)
Tight Ends 👎
Luke Musgrave (vs. PHI) — 4% started
Start Instead — Mason Taylor (vs. CLE), AJ Barner (vs. ARZ), Dalton Schultz (vs. JAX)
Musgrave was a popular pick-up in deep leagues this week after Tucker Kraft's season-ending injury. I don't have any objection, and even indulged myself, but with the understanding that Musgrave's target share and per-target efficiency both figure to be much worse than Kraft's. Musgrave ran a 4.61 at 253 pounds at the 2023 Combine, but he was never a big-time producer in college and has averaged just 1.30 yards per route over 373 routes (7.3 YPT, one TD).
Kraft, by comparison, is averaging 1.8 yards per route for his career and 2.7 this season. His breakout has been built on a huge leap in target rate (23.8 percent) and elite efficiency, doing it on just 23 routes per game. If we prorate Musgrave's career average of 1.3 YPRR over the 23.0 routes per game, it comes out to just 29.9 yards, which only has value in deep leagues and maybe some TE-premium contests. Musgrave is young, fast and big, so there's still an upside case beyond what he's shown, but this isn't the week to test it out against a tough Philadelphia defense coming out of a bye week with reinforcements.
The Eagles' defense is about to look much different with Jaelan Phillips (trade), Nolan Smith (triceps) and Brandon Graham (retirement) at edge, Nakobe Dean a full go at LB and Jaire Alexander/Michael Carter added at CB.
