2025 Fantasy Football ADP: Exploiting Default Rankings and ADPs on Sleeper App

As someone who plays fantasy football across a variety of formats and platforms, I appreciate synchronicities where one aspect of a league helps me with another league. Knowledge of fantasy football ADP numbers from various platforms is a great example, allowing us to invest in players where they tend to be cheapest.

Fortunately, you don't need to play in 15 different leagues to benefit from the value created by discrepancies in fantasy football ADP rankings between sites. This is the first in a series of three articles comparing ADPs and default ranks from the major redraft platforms (Sleeper, ESPN, Yahoo) with data from high-stakes contests (NFC's July drafts) and best ball drafts (Underdog).

We're kicking the series off with the Sleeper app, comparing redraft ADP — which also serve as the default rankings — with an average of the numbers from NFC and Underdog. There are a handful of cases where recent news (e.g. Joe Mixon) is responsible for discrepancies, because the numbers from Sleeper include drafts from throughout the offseason, whereas NFC's are only from July and Underdog's data updates every few days. Some of those new-impacted guys will be listed below, but we'll focus more on players where the ADP discrepancy can't be chalked up to bookkeeping differences.

At the bottom of the page, you'll find a chart with ADP data from Sleeper, Underdog, NFC, ESPN and Yahoo (as of July 30), plus two columns comparing Sleeper to the average of Underdog and NFC. I know from personal experience that the ADP (or default ranks) in a platform's draft room often influence current and future drafts, but there will always be some leagues that diverge — not a bad thing — and don't have picks closely following ADP.

All the numbers below are from PPR or half-PPR leagues that start one QB; the data doesn't include superflex, dynasty, two-QB, etc. If you want to see that stuff, RotoWire has an ADP page that shows Sleeper App data from a variety of league types, including two-QB dynasty. But none of that below.

Top Values at Sleeper ADP

This is partially a product of Sleeper's long-haul data not properly weighting McCaffrey's ADP rise this summer, but that may have some carryover effect to current drafts and increase the odds that CMC lasts until the 1-2 turn (something that doesn't happen often in best-ball or high-stakes rooms these days).

Adams has a mid-R3 ADP for best ball, compared to mid-R4 on Sleeper. He actually might start to drop some in best ball, with Matthew Stafford's current back injury serving as a reminder that there's added fragility when a pick relies on the health of both a 32-year-old wideout and his 37-year-old QB.

Speed may kill, but apparently it doesn't impress people drafting on Sleeper. There's also some news-related stuff at play here, with Worthy's target share projection getting a recent boost from Rashee Rice's legal news and Williams gaining value from hype (and expectations that new OC John Morton will throw deep more often). In any case, Worthy and Williams both make for excellent picks if they last until Round 5 of a draft. They even have strong cases as fourth-round picks, which is where they're mostly going these days.

McMillan has really shot up in best ball, sometimes going as early as the 3/4 turn and rarely making it to Round 5 these days. On Sleeper, you might be able to get him as late as Round 6, which makes a high-risk/reward profile far more appetizing. Don't hesitate to take McMillan in Round 5, either. He's healthy for training camp after a minor injury earlier.

Ridley's Sleeper ADP is nearly two rounds earlier than his Underdog ADP (54.6). I think that's exaggerated, but there is merit to taking him in best ball, where his high weekly ceiling makes up for the lack of a high season-long ceiling, i.e., we know he's not going to morph into a fantasy WR1 at this point, but he can work well in best ball if he puts up WR3 numbers with a couple huge spike games driven by long-distance TDs. That's less appealing in lineup-setting leagues, where we want mid-round breakout candidates who have upside for consistent high scores rather than just spike week. Which brings us to...

Odunze is a much better pick than Ridley for most managed leagues, with the potential to be a real difference-maker if things break right. Odunze obviously comes with serious bust risk after a mediocre rookie season, but he also has a ceiling worth chasing — especially if it costs us a seventh-round pick instead of a fifth/sixth-rounder.

Jennings stands out across the board on Sleeper, Yahoo and ESPN as one of the largest ADP discrepancies between the major redraft platforms and the high-stakes and best-ball sites. It's a two-round gap on Sleeper, and three rounds on Yahoo/ESPN. Every year we see a bunch of guys like this in WR3/4 range who get pushed up in best ball but left behind in redraft. Others this year include Jennings' teammate Ricky Pearsall, Jayden Reed, Josh Downs and Emeka Egbuka.

Other Good Values 👍

The value mostly comes at wide receiver, and also some at running backs. The onesie positions, on the other hand, tend to come off the board much earlier on Sleeper than they do in best ball drafts, although that changes some beyond the Top 100 picks for QBs (see above).

Worst Values / Frequent Reaches 👎

The QB1s universally have earlier ADPs on Sleeper than Underdog, although the numbers from NFC (with six-point passing TDs) tend to be pretty close to Sleeper's. But the trend eases up once we get to the QB1/2 borderline, starting with Brock Purdy, whose 107.0 ADP on Sleeper is nearly identical to his numbers from Underdog and NFC. By the time you get to Drake Maye and Dak Prescott, the quarterbacks actually have later ADPs on Sleeper.

TEs also have much earlier ADPs on Sleeper, and that trend persists beyond the TE1s to also include most TE2 types.  But it's not as exaggerated for the elite trio (Bowers/McBride/Kittle), with bigger discrepancies instead coming among the third/fourth-tier tight ends (LaPorta/Hockenson/Kelce/etc) and then continuing lower down the ranks. Tucker Kraft is a notable exception there, with minimal ADP discrepancy between Sleeper and the other platforms.

The ADPs for QBs and TEs on Sleeper may seem inflated relative to Underdog/NFC, but the numbers are extremely similar to those on ESPN and Yahoo (the two sites we'll look at each of the next two weeks for an ADP-value breakdown like this one). For those accustomed to best ball ADPs, it can be a shock to see how early QBs and TEs come off the board in a Sleeper or ESPN draft. That might sometimes mean going with the pack and making what feel like "reach" picks to fill out the onesie positions with strong starters, but it's usually better to be patient for at least a few rounds and see what relative values emerge at those positions.

Some of the other names listed above serve as a reminder to be careful about auto-drafting on Sleeper. If we don't have a queue and are simply left with an ADP pick, there's a decent chance we end up with someone whose fantasy value tanked this summer, e.g., Joe Mixon, Jonnu Smith, Quinshon Judkins.
