Baltimore Orioles Trades

7/10: The Orioles acquire the 37th pick in the 2025 draft from the Rays in exchange for RP Bryan Baker.

Orioles fantasy impact: Minimal, though this removes Baker from the list of potential second-half closers should Felix Bautista get dealt later this month. Baker was tied for second on the team with two saves with Seranthony Dominguez, who now looks like the top candidate should he remain in Baltimore while Bautista leaves.

7/25: The Orioles acquire minor-leaguers SP Wellington Aracena (235) and RP Cameron Foster from the Mets in exchange for RP Gregory Soto.

Orioles fantasy impact: Soto picked up his first save of the year Thursday after Bautista hit the IL with shoulder discomfort, which may have indicated he was set for a run as the temporary closer down the stretch if not for this move. Instead, it will likely be Dominguez who fills that role, though he could of course be traded as well.

7/29: The Orioles acquire minor-league SP Juaron Watts-Brown (369) from the Blue Jays in exchange for RP Seranthony Dominguez.

Orioles fantasy impact: Baltimore's bullpen sell-off continues. With Bautista facing an extended absnece with shoulder issues, Andrew Kittredge and Yennier Cano are the top options for saves in the Orioles' bullpen, but there's no guarantee either of them is still on the roster Friday.

7/30: The Orioles acquire minor-league SP Twine Palmer from the Astros in exchange for 3B Ramon Urias.

Orioles fantasy impact: Urias had spent much of the year covering for an injured Jordan Westburg at third base, but he was mostly limited to starting against lefties when the Orioles were at full strength, with Westburg moving to second base or desginated hitter. This trade likely means fewer days off against lefties for Jackson Holliday and Colton Cowser going forward.

7/30: The Orioles acquire minor-league SS Wilfri De La Cruz from the Cubs in exchange for RP Andrew Kittredge.

Orioles fantasy impact: The Orioles move yet another capable bullpen arm. Corbin Martin picked up his first career save Tuesday and could be the closer down the stretch in Baltimore, with Yennier Cano also in the mix.

7/31: The Orioles acquire minor-leaguers SP Anthony Nunez, RP Raimon Gomez and RP Chandler Marsh from the Mets in exchange for OF Cedric Mullins.

Orioles fantasy impact: Mullins is on an expiring contract and was always likely to get dealt. This move likely leads to more playing time for Dylan Carlson, who had been the player to start in center during Mullins' days off since being recalled July 22.

7/31: The Orioles acquire minor-leaguers 1B Victor Figueroa (139), SP Boston Bateman (293), SS Cobb Hightower, SS Brandon Butterworth, RP Tanner Smith and RP Tyson Neighbors from the Padres in exchange for 1B/OF Ryan O'Hearn and OF Ramon Laureano.

Orioles fantasy impact: This trade opens up two spots in the starting lineup for the Orioles. Coby Mayo was already serving as the first baseman against lefties and will now presumably start there against righties as well. In right field, Tyler O'Neill had frequently been resting his legs as the designated hitter after returning from a shoulder injury, but he could now be asked to play the field nearly everyday — assuming he makes it through the deadline still wearing an Orioles jersey.

7/31: The Orioles acquire SP Dietrich Enns and minor-league RP Micah Ashman from the Tigers in exchange for SP Charlie Morton.

Orioles fantasy impact: Baltimore's rotation lost two key pieces on Deadline Day, with Zach Eflin hitting the injured list with a back issue in addition to Morton moving to Detroit. Kyle Bradish (elbow) and Cade Povich (hip) look like they're not too far from returning from the injured list, so the Orioles may only need a spot start or two — one of which could come from Enns, a 34-year-old with a 5.60 ERA in 17.2 innings as a swingman this season.

Boston Red Sox Trades

6/15: The Red Sox acquire SP Kyle Harrison, RP Jordan Hicks and minor-leaguers OF James Tibbs and SP Jose Bello from the Giants in exchange for DH Rafael Devers.

Red Sox fantasy impact: Losing Devers and his career.856 OPS deals a blow to Boston's lineup, hurting the run and RBI chances for his former teammates. Unblocking the DH spot has allowed rookie Roman Anthony to play everyday without taking time from other outfielders, though there's a logjam again now that Masataka Yoshida is back from shoulder surgery. If Devers were still in town, though, Yoshida might not have a role at all.
None of the players the Red Sox acquired have yet made much of an impact at the big-league level for their new team. Harrison has been in the minors since the trade, re-working his repertoire to attempt to add a cutter and a sinker. Hicks, who had started 29 games for the Giants over the last two seasons, is working in relief in Boston. He actually has a save in a game in which Aroldis Chapman was used in the eighth inning and could see sporadic save chances going forward but would need Chapman to be dealt to have a chance at making the ninth inning his own.

7/30: The Red Sox acquire RP Steven Matz from the Cardinals in exchange for minor-league 1B Blaze Jordan (241).

Red Sox fantasy impact: Matz has been a starter for most of his career but has pitched out of the bullpen in all but two of his appearances this season. His 3.44 ERA is his best mark since 2016 and is right in line with his 3.42 SIERA. There's a chance he moves back into a starting role, as Boston's fifth starter Richard Fitts was recently optioned and Tanner Houck (elbow) experienced a setback during rehab, though he'll need some time to build up if that's the case, as he hasn't recorded more than five outs since May 20.

7/31: The Red Sox acquire SP Dustin May from the Dodgers in exchange for minor-league OF James Tibbs.

Red Sox fantasy impact: May hasn't been his usual self in his first year back from elbow surgery, posting a 4.85 ERA in 19 appearances (18 starts). He was set to pitch out of the bullpen going forward for the Dodgers, so this move should be a boost to his fantasy value despite the fact that he's moving to a tough park to pitch in, as he'll at least get to remain in a starting rotation. He'll take the fifth starter spot which had belonged to Richard Fitts, who was recently demoted.

New York Yankees Trades

7/25: The Yankees acquire 3B Ryan McMahon from the Rockies in exchange for minor-leaguers SP Griffin Herring and SP Josh Grosz.

Yankees fantasy impact: Jazz Chisholm is the only player who's given the Yankees competent production at either second or third base this season, and he can only play one position at once. This deal lets Chisholm settle in as the everyday second basemen, the spot he's occupied for the last few weeks due to lingering shoulder issues. Oswald Peraza and Jorbit Vivas had been competing for starts at third base but now find themselves on the bench.

As for McMahon himself, any trade which pulled him away from Coors Field was going to lead to a major downgrade in park factors, but it could have been a lot worse. Yankee Stadium may not be Coors Field, but it's still a great place to hit for lefties, ranking fourth-best for left-handed homers according to Statcast. McMahon will also enjoy a major upgrade in his surrounding lineup as he goes from being teammates with Michael Toglia to being teammates with Aaron Judge.

7/26: The Yankees acquire 2B/3B Amed Rosario from the Nationals in exchange for minor-leaguers RP Clayton Beeter and OF Browm Martinez.

Yankees fantasy impact: Rosario had filled a bench role in Washington, appearing at four different positions but starting less than a third of games before the deal. He appears set for a similar role in New York, pushing the ineffective Oswald Peraza further down the depth chart. A switch hitter, Rosario has performed much better against lefties (.799 OPS) than righties (.667 OPS) over the course of his career, so it's possible he fills the short side of a third-base platoon with the newly-acquired Ryan McMahon, but it's unlikely he plays enough to have much fantasy value.

7/30: The Yankees acquire OF Austin Slater from the White Sox in exchange for minor-league SP Gage Ziehl.

Yankees fantasy impact: Slater had been a short-side platoon corner outfielder in Chicago and should fill the same role in New York. The nine-year veterean has a career .798 OPS against lefties but just a .642 OPS against righties. His arrival means one of Trent Grisham or Jasson Dominguez will sit against lefties, and if and when Aaron Judge is cleared to play the outfield again, they could both find themselves on the bench against southpaws.

7/31: The Yankees acquire RP David Bednar from the Pirates in exchange for minor-leaguers C Rafael Flores, OF Brian Sanchez and C Edgleen Perez.

Yankees fantasy impact: Bednar recovered from a difficult start that saw him optioned in early April, recording a 1.70 ERA and 0.97 WHIP in 37 inning since he return. He had long since reclaimed the closer role in Pittsburgh, but his role is New York is not yet clear. Incumbent Yankees closer Devin Williams has also had his struggles this season, temporarily losing the closer job earlier in the year, but he has a 3.03 ERA and 0.81 WHIP since May 8. He's given up five runs in his last six outings, though, and he thrived in the past as the setup man in front of Josh Hader when both were with the Brewers, so it's possible Bednar takes his job.

7/31: The Yankees acquire RP Jake Bird from the Rockies in exchange for minor-leaguers SP Ben Shields and OF Roc Riggio.

Yankees fantasy impact: Bird didn't pick up any saves in Colorado and certainly won't be picking up any in New York, with Devin Williams, David Bednar and Luke Weaver locking down the late innings. He should at least produce ratios better than his 4.73 ERA and 1.48 WHIP now that he's gotten away from Coors Field.

7/31: The Yankees acquire IF/OF Jose Caballero from the Rays in exchange for minor-league OF Everson Pereira and a player to be named later.

Yankees fantasy impact: Caballero is tied for the major-league lead with 34 steals despite not playing often enough to be found on the qualified hitter leaderboard. He started 61 percent of the Rays' games prior to the trade, appearaing at six different positions, but he may not be able to feature quite as regularly for his new team, and his stolen bases could dip as a result.

7/31: The Yankees acquire RP Camilo Doval from the Giants in exchange for minor-leaguers C Jesus Rodriguez (354), 3B Parks Harber and SP Trystan Vrieling.

Yankees fantasy impact: Doval has 107 career saves, but he might not add too many more to his total over the next two months. With a 3.09 ERA and a strikeout rate that's slipped to a career-low 26.2 percent, he may fit best in a setup role, whether that's setting up for Devin Williams or David Bednar. If the Yankees were to embrace a committee approach, Doval would likely see the occasional save, but that hasn't been manager Aaron Boone's preference.

7/31: The Yankees acquire minor-league OF Wilberson De Pena and international bonus pool money from the Angels in exchange for 3B Oswald Peraza.

Yankees fantasy impact: Peraza had recently been the Yankees' primary third baseman but lost that role when the team acquired Ryan McMahon. He didn't have a role to play as a utility infielder, either, with the Yankees adding Amed Rosario and Jose Caballero.

Tampa Bay Rays Trades

7/10: The Rays acquire RP Bryan Baker from the Orioles in exchange for the 37th pick in the 2025 draft.

Rays fantasy impact: Minimal, as the Rays are using Pete Fairbanks as a traditional closer rather than going with the committee approach they've been fond of in the past. If Fairbanks were to get hurt, or if the Rays elect to deal him even while trying to contend (something which isn't hard to envision for this franchise), Baker could earn save chances, though Garrett Cleavinger, Edwin Uceta and Manuel Rodriguez could still be in the mix.

7/28: The Rays acquire minor-league 2B/SS Jadher Areinamo from the Brewers in exhange for C Danny Jansen.

Rays fantasy impact: Jansen had been the Rays' starting catcher this season, starting 66 of 106 games behind the plate. Going forward, Matt Thaiss will split time with new arrival Nick Fortes.

7/28: The Rays acquire C Nick Fortes from the Marlins in exchange for minor-league OF Matthew Etzel.

Rays fantasy impact: With Danny Jansen dealt to Milwaukee, the Rays have a hole at catcher. Fortes may have been acquired to fill that hole, though his career OPS (.621) is worse than that of Matt Thaiss (.653), who had been Jansen's backup, so there's no guarantee he earns mcuh more than half the starts.

7/30: The Rays acquire minor-league C Hunter Feduccia from the Dodgers and minor-league SP Brian Van Belle from the Reds in a three-team trade which sent minor-leaguers C Ben Rortvedt and RP Paul Gervase to the Dodgers and SP Zack Littell to the Reds.

Rays fantasy impact: The loss of Littell leaves the Rays short in the rotation. His spot could be filled by Van Belle, a 28-year-old with no big-league experience but a promising 3.21 ERA at the Triple-A level this season. It could also be filled by the recently demoted Taj Bradley, or by Joe Rock, Ian Seymour or Connor Seabold, all of whom are on the 40-man roster. Feduccia may take Rortvedt's place as the third catcher waiting at Triple-A, though his third straight season with a Triple-A OPS north of .800 could mean he takes Matt Thaiss' spot and splits time with Nick Fortes.

7/31: The Rays acquire OF Everson Pereira and a player to be named later from the Yankees in exchange for IF/OF Jose Caballero.

Rays fantasy impact: Caballero started more than half of the Rays' games prior to the trade but wasn't at the top of the depth chart at any one position, so it's hard to pinpoint one player who stands the most to benefit from his absence. Taylor Walls, perhaps, becomes a more important utility infielder for the team, but he'd already been filling in as the primary shortstop in Ha-Seong Kim's (back) absence.

7/31: The Rays acquire RP Griffin Jax from the Twins in exchange for minor-league SP Taj Bradley.

Rays fantasy impact: Jax's ERA has jumped to 4.50 this season, but his 1.97 SIERA tells a very different story. In previous years, this move would likely result in him seeing a handful of save chances down the stretch as part of the Rays' closer committee, but Tampa Bay has used Pete Fairbanks as a traditional closer this season, so Jax will likely be stuck as a setup man. If Fairbanks stumbles or gets hurt, however, Jax is now the top candidate to fill in for him. The loss of Bradley could be a minor boost to Joe Boyle's prospects, as the Rays can no longer call Bradley back up to take his place.

7/31: The Rays acquire SP Adrian Houser from the White Sox in exchange for minor-league IF Curtis Mead and minor-leaguers SP Duncan Davitt and RP Ben Peoples.

Rays fantasy impact: The Rays opened a rotation spot earlier in the day by dealing away Zack Littell but filled it immediately with the addition of Houser. Like Littell, Houser gives up plenty of contact (17.1 percent strikeout rate) but has an ERA (2.10) that far outpaces his SIERA (4.51). The move should upgrade his winning chances — though he'd actually managed six wins in 11 starts with Chicago — but comes with a downgrade in park factors, with the Rays' temporary minor-league home playing very hitter-friendly. Mead had recently been sent down, so his departure doesn't directly affect the big-league roster.

Toronto Blue Jays Trades

7/29: The Blue Jays acquire RP Seranthony Dominguez from the Orioles in exchange for minor-league SP Juaron Watts-Brown (369).

Blue Jays fantasy impact: Dominguez had been a candidate to close games down the stretch in Baltimore if he wound up sticking around past the deadline, but that now won't be happening. It would take an injury to Jeff Hoffman for Dominguez to have a chance at closing games for Toronto, and even then, he wouldn't necessarily be ahead of Yariel Rodriguez or Yimi Garcia (elbow/ankle).

7/31: The Blue Jays acquire SP Shane Bieber from the Guardians in exchange for minor-league SP Khal Stephen (140).

Blue Jays fantasy impact: The Blue Jays are taking a gamble that Bieber, who's already paused his rehab once in his return from Tommy John surgery, will be good to go down the stretch and in the playoffs. He has a 16:1 K:BB and a 2.00 ERA in three starts since resuming his rehab assignment, so there's reason for optimism. Once he's ready to go sometime in mid-August, Eric Lauer's rotation spot could be in jeopardy despite his 2.68 ERA, unless the Blue Jays can convince a veteran like Chris Bassitt (4.24 ERA) or Max Scherzer (4.89 ERA) to the bullpen.

7/31: The Blue Jays acquire minor-league C Brandon Valenzuela from the Padres in exchange for 3B Will Wagner.

Blue Jays fantasy impact: Wagner had been filling in at the infield corners on a regular basis in recent weeks, giving Vladimir Guerrero Jr. the chance to rest his legs as the designated hitter or pushing Addison Barger out to the outfield. Losing him probably means Guerrero stays at first base nearly everyday and could mean Barger stays on the infield dirt, though it could also mean Ernie Clement shifts from second to third base once Andres Gimenez (ankle) is healthy.

7/31: The Blue Jays acquire 1B Ty France and RP Louis Varland from the Twins in exchange for minor-leaguers SP Kendry Rojas (175) and OF Alan Roden.

Blue Jays fantasy impact: France had been the Twins' primary first baseman this season, but he doesn't appear to have a starting role available in Toronto. Considering he owns a .678 OPS on the year and hasn't had an OPS better than .703 since 2022, that's probably for the best. His role may be nothing more than a short-side platoon designated hitter, with George Springer moving to the outfield against lefties. Varland owns a 2.02 ERA and 1.10 WHIP in his first full seasons as a reliever and should give the team quality high-leverage innings, but he's unlikely to steal saves from Jeff Hoffman.

AL Central

Chicago White Sox Trades

7/30: The White Sox acquire minor-league SP Gage Ziehl from the Yankees in exchange for OF Austin Slater.

White Sox fantasy impact: Slater's departure opens up at-bats against lefties in right field. If Mike Tauchman sticks around through the deadline, he could become an everyday player.

7/31: The White Sox acquire minor-leaguers IF Curtis Mead, SP Duncan Davitt and RP Ben Peoples from the Rays in exchange for SP Adrian Houser.

White Sox fantasy impact: Mead had been stuck either on the short side of a platoon or in the minors during his time in Tampa, but he should find at-bats easier to come by in Chicago, assuming the White Sox recall him soon. He's just a career .238/.307/.322 hitter but is only 24 years old and hasn't had an extended run as a regular. Houser's departure creates a hole in the rotation which could potentially be filled by Mike Vasil, Tyler Alexander or Tyler Gilbert, who are in the bullpen but have starting experience.

Cleveland Guardians Trades

7/31: The Guardians acquire minor-league SP Khal Stephen (140) from the Blue Jays in exchange for SP Shane Bieber.

Guardians fantasy impact: Bieber had been working his way back from Tommy John surgery and looked nearly ready to return after overcoming a setback. That likely would have cost Joey Cantillo his rotation spot, but Cantillo now looks like he's safely in the rotation for the rest of the year.

7/31: The Guardians acquire cash considerations or a player to be named later from the Tigers in exchange for RP Paul Sewald.

Guardians fantasy impact: Minimal. Sewald has struggled to a 4.70 ERA this year while battling shoulder issues, the latest of which is set to keep him out until September. He was unlikely to beat out Cade Smith for save chance in the absence of Emmanuel Clase (suspension) even if healthy.

Detroit Tigers Trades

7/28: The Tigers acquire SP Chris Paddack and minor-league SP Randy Dobnak from the Twins in exchange for minor-league C Enrique Jimenez.

Tigers fantasy impact: The Tigers rotation has been hit with a number of injuries, most recently Reese Olson's season-ending shoulder strain. Paddack should slide right into Olson's vacated spot without taking opportunities away from any of his new teammates. With a 4.95 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 17.6 percent strikeout rate, though, Paddack won't be particularly useful in many fantasy leagues. Dobnak has been pitching in the minors since early April and will remain there.

7/30: The Tigers acquire RP Rafael Montero from the Braves in exchange for minor-league SS Jim Jarvis.

Tigers fantasy impact: Minimal. Montero has 30 career saves but also has a 5.06 ERA over the last three seasons, so the 34-year-old won't be anywhere close to high-leverage innings in Detroit.

7/31: The Tigers acquire RP Paul Sewald from the Guardians in exchange for cash considerations or a player to be named later.

Tigers fantasy impact: Sewald has 86 career saves and could potentially throw some high-leverage innings for the Tigers, but he's also 35 years old, has posted ERAs north of 4.00 for two straight seasons and has missed much of this year with shoulder troubles. He isn't expected to return from his latest injury, a teres major strain, until sometime in September.

7/31: The Tigers acquire RP Kyle Finnegan from the Nationals in exchange for minor-leaguers SP Josh Randall and SP R.J. Sales.

Tigers fantasy impact: Finnegan was very likely to get dealt at the deadline and also very likely to no longer earn save chances with his new team, as his 4.38 ERA and 19.6 percent strikeout rate this season aren't closer numbers. Will Vest (2.53 ERA, 27.4 percent strikeout rate) has earned the majority of the saves in Detroit this season and should continue to do so, though the team does still occasionally give save chances to other relievers, one of which could now be Finnegan.

7/31: The Tigers acquire SP Charlie Morton from the Orioles in exchange for SP Dietrich Enns and minor-league RP Micah Ashman.

Tigers fantasy impact: Morton's 5.42 ERA on the season is ugly, but he owns a much better 3.88 ERA in 11 starts since returning to the rotation in late May. He'll get a slight park upgrade and an upgrade to his winning chances in his new home. His arrival bumps Troy Melton, who was recently called up and had made a pair of starts, to the bullpen.

Kansas City Royals Trades

7/17: The Royals acquire 2B/LF Adam Frazier from the Pirates in exchange for minor-league SS Cam Devanney.

Royals fantasy impact: This trade should result in a playing-time upgrade for Frazier, who had started just one of Pittsburgh's last 12 games before the break. The Royals have gotten so little production from their left fielders this season, who have hit .211/.283/.307 as a group, that even Frazier's .255/.318/.336 performance represents improvement. Regular at-bats would keep Frazier viable in very deep leagues, but he doesn't do enough to matter in most formats even with steady playing time.

7/26: The Royals acquire OF Randal Grichuk from the Diamondbacks in exchange for minor-league RP Andrew Hoffmann.

Royals fantasy impact: The move is at least a temporary upgrade in playing time for Grichuk, who had mostly filled a short-side platoon role in Arizona but should now start everyday in right field until Jac Calgianone returns from his hamstring strain. Even when Calgianone gets healthy, Grichuk should still find at-bats against righties easier to come by with the outfield competition in Kansas City looking much lighter than it did in Arizona. Grichuk could start over John Rave in left field once Caglianone returns.

7/31: The Royals acquire SP Ryan Bergert and minor-league SP Stephen Kolek from the Padres in exchange for C Freddy Fermin.

Royals fantasy impact: Kansas City adds two arms to a rotation which has been hit by multiple injuries. Bergert owns a 2.78 ERA in seven starts and four relief appearances this season, though that comes with a 4.64 SIERA, while Kolek owns a 4.18 ERA (and 4.46 SIERA) in 14 starts. Bergert had been in the majors at the time of the deal while Kolek had recently been sent back to Triple-A, but there's room in the rotation for both of them at the moment. Fermin had been a heavily-used backup catcher prior to the deal, starting nearly half the time so that Salvador Perez could rest his legs at first base or designated hitter. Luke Maile will now fill that role, though it's unclear if he'll start as often as Fermin did.

7/31: The Royals acquire SP Bailey Falter from the Pirates in exchange for minor-leaguers RP Evan Sisk and 1B Callan Moss.

Royals fantasy impact: The Royals pick up yet more rotation depth in Falter, who they hope will continue pitching to his 3.73 ERA going forward rather than his 5.09 SIERA. He'll experience a park downgrade but an upgrade to his winning chances upon leaving Pittsburgh. His rotation spot could be at risk once Cole Ragans returns from his shoulder injury, though he hasn't even begun a rehab assignment yet.

7/31: The Royals acquire OF Mike Yastrzemski from the Giants in exchange for minor-league SP Yunior Marte.

Royals fantasy impact: Rays outfielders have hit a collective .215/.271/.322 on the season so even a league-average bat like Yastrzemski's should be a big upgrade. His acquisition means fellow new arrival Randal Grichuk won't have an everyday role after all, as the Royals will likely use Yastrzemski in right field against righties and keep Grichuk on the short side of a platoon.

Minnesota Twins Trades

7/28: The Twins acquire minor-league C Enrique Jimenez from the Tigers in exchange for SP Chris Paddack and minor-league SP Randy Dobnak.

Twins fantasy impact: The Twins were already looking short in the rotation with Bailey Ober (hip), Pablo Lopez (shoulder) and David Festa (shoulder) on the injured list. Ober is on the cusp of returning, but with Paddack now in Detroit, that will leave the Twins with just four starters. Travis Adams and Marco Raya are on the 40-man roster and currently starting for Triple-A Rochester, so one of them could be getting the call soon.

7/30: The Twins acquire minor-leaguers SP Mick Abel (114) and C Eduardo Tait (130) from the Phillies in exchange for RP Jhoan Duran.

Twins fantasy impact: Duran's departure leaves a big hole open at the back of the Twins' bullpen. Griffin Jax is currently the top candidate to fill it, though he's quite likely to be on the move himself in the next 24 hours. If that happens, Louis Varland could spend the last two months as the closer.

Both prospects have potential, but only Abel is a candidate to help out this year, as Tait is an 18-year-old who only just reached High-A. Abel, the 15th-overall pick in the 2020 MLB Draft, owns a 2.31 ERA in 13 Triple-A starts this year after making big strides with his command, but he struggled to a 5.04 ERA and 1.36 WHIP in six MLB starts. With the Twins dealing with multiple rotation injuries at the moment, however, Abel could get another big-league opportunity sooner rather than later.

7/31: The Twins acquire minor-leaguers OF Hendry Mendez and SP Geremy Villoria from the Phillies in exchange for OF Harrison Bader.

Twins fantsy impact: Bader had been starting against every lefty as well as the majority of righties in Minnesota, so his departure opens up a nearly full-time role. His departure could mean more at-bats for DaShawn Keirsey, or it could mean more time in the outfield for Willi Castro, leaving second base open for Kody Clemens and in turn leaving first base open for Ty France. Utility infielder Brooks Lee could also benefit, especially if Clemens or France are also on the move.

7/31: The Twins acquire minor-league OF James Outman from the Dodgers in exchange for RP Brock Stewart.

Twins fantasy impact: Outman broke out to the tune of a .790 OPS in 2023 but has fallen off a cliff since then, posting a .514 OPS over the last two seasons and spending much of this year in the minors. With the Twins selling off multiple pieces at the deadline, he's a candidate to return to the majors and could even play fairly regularly down the stretch. Stewart had been pitching well but wasn't earning save chances, so this deal doesn't disrupt the Twins' closer depth chart other than by removing Stewart as a possible replacement for Jhoan Duran.

7/31: The Twins acquire minor-league RP Matt Mikulski from the Astros in exchange for SS Carlos Correa.

Twins fantasy impact: Correa had the Twins' shortstop job locked down since signing in 2022 and was under team control through at least 2028, with vesting options beyond that. Brooks Lee, who owns a .673 OPS in 89 games as a utility infielder this season, should become the primary shortstop the rest of the way.

7/31: The Twins acquire minor-league SP Garrett Horn in exchange for RP Danny Coulombe.

Twins fantasy impact: Coulombe only picked up two saves for the Twins this season, but he was a candidate for more save chances in the final two months with Jhoan Duran now in Philadelphia. Griffin Jax and Louis Varland looked like the favorites even prior to this deal, however.

7/31: The Twins acquire minor-league SP Taj Bradley from the Rays in exchange for RP Griffin Jax.

Twins fantasy impact: Bradley has plenty of potential, but the 24-year-old hasn't put it all together yet, taking a step backward this year and getting demoted after posting a 4.61 ERA in 21 starts. The Twins need innings down the stretch, so either Bradley or fellow new arrival Mick Abel should get the call to return to the big leagues soon.

Jax could have been the one to close games down the stretch for the Twins if he remained in town amidst a bullpen sell-off, but he's now joined an exodus which includes Jhoan Duran, Danny Coulombe, Brock Stewart and Louis Varland. That leaves Cole Sands as potentially the best remaining closer candidate.

7/31: The Twins acquire minor-leaguers SP Ryan Gallagher and SP Sam Armstrong from the Cubs in exchange for IF/OF Willi Castro.

Twins fantasy impact: Castro was an everyday player for the Twins despite not having a specific position to call his own. As a result, his vacated at-bats could be spread around several different players, with utility infielder Brooks Lee and newly acquired outfielders James Outman and Alan Roden among those who could benefit.

7/31: The Twins acquire minor-leaguers SP Kendry Rojas (175) and OF Alan Roden from the Blue Jays in exchange for 1B Ty France and RP Louis Varland.

Twins fantasy impact: France's departure leaves a hole at first base, which will likely be filled by Kody Clemens sliding over from second. That would leave a new hole at second base, which could be served by calling up Edouard Julien or Austin Martin. Alternatively, Jose Miranda could be recalled to start at first. Varland had looked like the most likely high-leverage reliever to withstand the deadline-day purge, as he's under team control through 2030. Instead, it now looks like Cole Sands who could get the majority of the save chances over the last two months.

AL West

Athletics Trades

7/31: The Athletics acquire minor-leaguers SS Leo De Vries (3), SP Henry Baez (389), SP Braden Nett (397) and RP Eduarniel Nunez from the Padres in exchange for RP Mason Miller and SP JP Sears.

Athletics fantasy impact: Miller saved 48 games with a 2.96 ERA across the last two seasons, so his departure blows a big hole in the back of the Athletics' bullpen. Michael Kelly and Jack Perkins could be candidates to take over as closer, though Perkins has been used in multi-inning relief stints and could also be the one to step into Sears' vacated rotation spot. Osvaldo Bido and Sean Newcomb could also be candidates to step into the rotation.

Among the arrivals, De Vries is the obvious prize, but he's 18 and has only reached High-A, so he's unlikely to show up in Sacramento before late 2026 at the earliest. Baez and Nett are also probably at least a year away, but Nunez made his big-league debut this season and has struck out 41.2 percent of opposing batters in the minors this season, so he could help out the major-league bullpen down the stretch.

7/31: The Athletics acquire minor-league SP Kenya Huggins from the Reds in exchange for 3B/OF Miguel Andujar.

Athletics fantasy impact: Andujar had most recently been serving as the Athletics' primary third baseman. In his absence, that role could go to Gio Ursehla or Max Schuemann.

Houston Astros Trades

7/30: The Astros acquire 3B Ramon Urias from the Orioles in exchange for minor-league SP Twine Palmer.

Astros fantasy impact: Isaac Paredes may require season-ending hamstring surgery, and this trade seemingly indicates the Astros are fearing the worst. Urias owns a modest .688 OPS on the season, but the Crawford Boxes in left field make Houston a great place to hit for right-handed batters, even ones without Pardes' extreme pulled flyball approach. Urias isn't a lock to start at third in Paredes' absence, however, as Mauricio Dubon, who's handled the role recently and has a respectable .725 OPS, could still start ahead of him.

7/31: The Astros acquire SS Carlos Correa from the Twins in exchange for minor-league RP Matt Mikulski.

Astros fantasy impact: Maybe Ramon Urias wasn't acquired to be a starter after all. Correa owns a modest .704 OPS on the season, but he's stayed healthy, and his strikeout and hard-hit metrics don't look very different from last season, when he managed a .905 OPS. He was probably due for a bounceback already, but going back to an organization he knows very well and a park that's very friendly for right-handed power certainly can't hurt. He could find himself learning a new position, however, as his defensive metrics have been trending in the wrong direction. Jeremy Pena is a strong defensive shortstop and is set to return from a broken rib Friday, which could push Correa to third base.

7/31: The Astros acquire OF Jesus Sanchez from the Marlins in exhange for SP Ryan Gusto and minor-leaguers OF Esmil Valencia and SS Chase Jaworsky.

Astros fantasy impact: Sanchez won't see a big change in park factors with this deal, but he'll get a nice upgrade in the quality of his surrounding lineup. It's also possible he sees an uptick in playing time, as he sat against the majority of lefties in Miami, but the Astros could platoon him as well, using Jose Altuve in left field while Brice Matthews or the newly-acquired Ramon Urias start at second base. Taylor Trammell will likely see a loss in playing time as a result of this move.

Gusto had bounced between the rotation and bullpen but was most recently used as a starter. His exit keeps Colton Gordon and Jason Alexander in the rotation for now, though the Astros have multiple starters set to return before the end of the season.

Los Angeles Angels Trades

7/30: The Angels acquire RP Andrew Chafin and RP Luis Garcia from the Nationals in exchange for minor-leaguers SP Jake Eder and 1B Sam Brown.

Angels fantasy impact: The Angels somewhat surprisingly emerge as buyers at the deadline despite sitting two games under .500 at the time of the trade, four games back in a crowded wild-card race. Chafin and Garcia add two capable, veteran arms to a bullpen that ranks 27th in ERA (4.96), but they won't be under consideration for save chances as long as Kenley Jansen is still around.

7/31: The Angels acquire 3B Oswald Peraza from the Yankees in exchange for minor-league OF Wilberson De Pena and international bonus pool money.

Angels fantasy impact: Peraza's arrival gives the Angels another utility infield option and potential cover for Yoan Moncada's frequent injury problems. With a .452 OPS on the season, however, he doesn't have much of a case for regular at-bats, even with other Angels utility infielders Luis Rengifo (.613 OPS) and Scott Kingery (.422 OPS) also having poor seasons.

Seattle Mariners Trades

7/24: The Mariners acquire 1B Josh Naylor from the Diamondbacks in exchange for minor-leaguers RP Brandyn Garcia and SP Ashton Izzi.

Mariners fantasy impact: The move is a downgrade for Naylor himself, as he moves from the third-best hitters' park per Statcast to the toughest place to hit in the entire league. And unlike most hitters who get dealt at the deadline, he's not leaving behind a poor lineup, as the Diamondbacks rank fourth in runs scored, six spots higher than the Mariners.

The trade is also a likely downgrade for Luke Raley and Donovan Solano, who had been platooning at first base. They could hold onto most of their playing time if the Mariners are willing to play Jorge Polanco in the field more often in place of Cole Young at second base or Brandon Williamson at third, but he's been the designated hitter in all but 13 of his starts this year.

7/30: The Mariners acquire RP Caleb Ferguson from the Pirates in exchange for minor-league SP Jeter Martinez.

Mariners fantasy impact: Minimal. Ferguson gives the Mariners another lefty in the bullpen to go with Gabe Speier, but he's unikely to get anywhere near the ninth inning.

7/30: The Mariners acquire 3B Eugenio Suarez from the Diamondbacks in exchange for 1B Tyler Locklear and minor-leaguers RP Juan Burgos and RP Hunter Cranton.

Mariners fantasy impact: Suarez receives the same major downgrade in home park factors that Josh Naylor got six days ago. In Suarez's case, we can already see how hitting in Seattle affects him, as he spent two years as a Mariner in 2022 and 2023. He hit .234 in those two seasons, homering once every 5.9 games. In his two years as a Diamondback, he's hit .253, homering once every 4.0 games. Suarez is currently fifth in MLB with 36 homers but may struggle to keep up that pace after the trade. Ben Williamson, who's struggled to a .604 OPS in his rookie season, will lose his starting job at third base as a result of the trade.

Texas Rangers Trades

7/18: The Rangers acquire RP Jose Ruiz from the Braves in exchange for RP Dane Dunning.

Rangers fantasy impact: Almost none. Dunning has spent most of the year in the minors, while Ruiz has an 8.82 ERA and has been DFA'd by both the Phillies and Braves this season, so any major-league innings he earns will likely come in low leverage.

7/31: The Rangers acquire RP Danny Coulombe from the Twins in exchage for minor-league SP Garrett Horn.

Rangers fantasy impact: Coulombe owns a 1.16 ERA and 0.97 WHIP on the season and a 2.10 ERA and 0.99 WHIP over the last four years. The Rangers have lacked a reliable closer this season, so it's possible he steps into the role. It's also possibly that by adding another quality lefty, the Rangers feel more comfortable keeping fellow southpaw Robert Garcia in the closer role. Garcia has the team's last three saves and owns a 2.61 ERA on the season.

7/31: The Rangers acquire SP Merrill Kelly from the Diamondbacks in exchange for minor-leaguers SP Kohl Drake (118), SP Mitch Bratt (199) and SP David Hagaman.

Rangers fantasy impact: Kelly gets a nice park upgrade with this move, going from one of the league's more hitter-friendly parks to a park that has been the most pitcher-friendly venue in the league this season. He may be a 36-year-old whose MLB career didn't begin until he turned 30, but he's showing no signs of slowing down, maintaining an above-average strikeout rate (23.5 percent, the second-best mark of his career) to go with his 3.22 ERA and 1.06 WHIP. His arrival will push one of Jack Leiter (4.09 ERA), Kumar Rocker (5.73 ERA) or Patrick Corbin (a surprising 3.78 ERA) out of the rotation.

7/31: The Rangers acquire RP Phil Maton from the Cardinals in exchange for minor-leaguers SP Mason Molina and RP Skylar Hales as well as international bonus pool money.

Rangers fantasy impact: Maton would have been a candidate for saves in St. Louis after Ryan Helsley left town, but he could still have a shot at saves in Texas. Robert Garcia (2.61 ERA, 27.1 percent strikeout rate) has been the most recent relief to stake his claim on the ninth inning, and he hasn't looked out of place, but he's also a lefty, which may mean manager Bruce Bochy would prefer to match him up with tough lefties in the seventh or eighth inning. The right-handed Maton owns a career best 2.35 ERA this season as well as a 30.4 percent strikeout rate and looks capable of handling closing duties should Bochy look his way.

NL East

Atlanta Braves Trades

7/18: The Braves acquire RP Dane Dunning from the Rangers in exchange for RP Jose Ruiz.

Braves fantasy impact: Minimal, unless Atlanta is hit with even more injuries in its rotation. Dunning has spent most of the year starting in the minors but is expected to pitch in the big-league bullpen for his new team, though he does have a 4.27 ERA in 102 career starts, so he could be a back-end rotation option at some point.

7/27: The Brave acquire Erick Fedde from the Cardinals in exchange for cash considerations.

Braves fantasy impact: Atlanta adds another starter to address the growing injury crisis in its rotation, with Grant Holmes (elbow) hitting the 60-day injured list the same day. The move preserves some level of fantasy relevance for Fedde, who had been designated for assignment by St. Louis, but even in very deep leagues, a pitcher who has a 5.22 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 14.1 percent strikeout rate isn't particularly interesting.

7/30: The Braves acquire RP Tyler Kinley from the Rockies in exchange for minor-league RP Austin Smith.

Braves fantasy impact: Atlanta sits 13 games out of a playoff spot but continues adding small pieces rather than subtracting. Assuming sell-off eventually arrives, Kinley could theoretically add to his 21 career saves after the trade deadline, but that would probably require additional relievers exiting beyond just Raisel Iglesias.

7/30: The Braves acquire minor-league SS Jim Jarvis from the Tigers in exchange for RP Rafael Montero.

Braves fantasy impact: Minimal. Montero had not been throwing high-leverage innings for Atlanta.

Miami Marlins Trades

7/28: The Marlins acquire minor-league OF Matthew Etzel from the Rays in exchange for C Nick Fortes.

Marlins fantasy impact: Fortes had fallen behind rookie Agustin Ramirez on the catcher depth chart, though Ramirez frequently served as the designated hitter, giving Fortes more playing time than most backups. Those starts could now go to Liam Hicks, who was already on the roster as a third catcher, or perhaps Ramirez could spend more time behind the plate over the final two months and less time as the DH, with Heriberto Hernandez picking up more playing time as a result.

7/31: The Marlins acquire SP Ryan Gusto and minor-leaguers OF Esmil Valencia and SS Chase Jaworsky from the Astros in exchange for OF Jesus Sanchez.

Marlins fantasy impact: Gusto, who owns a 4.92 ERA and 1.43 WHIP in 86 innings as a swingman this season, currently lines up to compete with Janson Junk for the fifth starter spot, but if the Marlins move a starter before the day is done, both of them could spend the final two months in the rotation. In the outfielder, Heriberto Hernandez could be the one to step into Sanchez's vacated starting role, as he already frequently spelled Sanchez against lefties.

New York Mets Trades

7/25: The Mets acquire RP Gregory Soto from the Orioles in exchange for minor-leaguers SP Wellington Aracena (235) and RP Cameron Foster.

Mets fantasy impact: Minimal. The deal adds another capable high-leverage arm to set up for Edwin Diaz and gives the Mets a pitcher with experience in the ninth inning should Diaz get hurt, but Soto wouldn't necessarily get the job ahead of Reed Garrett or Huascar Brazoban if a ninth-inning fill-in is needed.

7/30: The Mets acquire RP Tyler Rogers from the Giants in exchange for RP Jose Butto and minor-leaugers SP Blade Tidwell (364) and OF Drew Gilbert (380).

Mets fantasy impact: The Mets continue to strengthen the bridge to Edwin Diaz, acquiring a veteran setup man who owns a 1.80 ERA and 0.86 WHIP this season. It would of course take an injury to Diaz for Rogers to have a shot at save chances, but he could be the leading candidate if that happens.

7/30: The Mets acquire RP Ryan Helsley from the Cardinals in exchange for minor-leaguers SS Jesus Baez (335), SP Nate Dohm and SP Frank Elissalt.

Mets fantasy impact: Helsley's expiring deal made him a very likely trade candidate, but most of his hypothetical destinations would have seen him hold onto most if not all of his save chances. That won't be the case in Queens, where Edwin Diaz is firmly entretnched as the closer. If something were to happen to Diaz, though, Helsley is now the obvious next man up.

7/31: The Mets acquire Cedric Mullins from the Orioles in exchange for minor-leaguers SP Anthony Nunez, RP Raimon Gomez and RP Chandler Marsh.

Mets fantasy impact: Mullins slots right in as the Mets' primary center fielder, a spot which been filled by the combination of the glove-first Tyrone Taylor (.553) and 33-year-old second baseman Jeff McNeil. This move pushes McNeil back into the infield, with Brett Baty, who had recently been starting at the keystone, likely to lose much of his playing time. While Mullins' playing time should be secure, the trade nonethless represents a slight downgrade for him due to his new pitcher-friendly home park.

Philadelphia Phillies Trades

7/30: The Phillies acquire RP Jhoan Duran from the Twins in exchange for minor-leaguers SP Mick Abel (114) and C Eduardo Tait (130).

Phillies fantasy impact: The Phillies have been perfectly happy using a committee approach during Rob Thomson's tenure, but they haven't been averse to using a traditional closer when they have a reliever who clearly deserves the title. Duran, whose 2.01 ERA is even better than his 2.47 career mark, certainly fits into that category, though he's occasionally been used in high-leverage situations prior to the ninth inning by the Twins and presumably wouldn't object to doing the same thing in Philadelphia. That could leave a trickle of save chances available for the likes of Matt Strahm and Orion Kerkering, but the vast majority should now belong to Duran. Duran is under team control through 2027, which deals a blow to those in dynasty leagues hoping Kerkering would eventually take over in the ninth inning.

7/31: The Phillies acquire OF Harrison Bader from the Twins in exchange for minor-leaguers OF Hendry Mendez and SP Geremy Villoria.

Phillies fantasy impact: Bader had been starting against every lefty and the majority of righties in Minnesota, and a similar role is likely in store in Philadelphia. The Phillies can now start three right-hand bats (Bader, Nick Castellanos and Johan Rojas) in the outfield against southpaws, but what they do against righties depends on their plans for Max Kepler, who's struggled to a .655 OPS this season. Bader has been much better at the plate this season (.778 OPS) and also has a much better glove, so it's possible he's set for a true everyday role, with Kepler glued to the bench or even off the roster.

Washington Nationals Trades

7/26: The Nationals acquire minor-leaguers RP Clayton Beeter and OF Browm Martinez from the Yankees in exchange for 2B/3B Amed Rosario.

Nationals fantasy impact: Rosario had been filling a bench role for the Nationals, so this move doesn't open up much extra playing time for any of his former teammates. Many of his starts came at second base against southpaws in place of Luis Garcia Jr., so it's possible Garcia will now move into a true everyday role for the final two months.

7/30: The Nationals acquire minor-leaguers SP Jake Eder and 1B Sam Brown from the Angels in exchange for RP Andrew Chafin and RP Luis Garcia.

Nationals fantasy impact: Eder owns a 4.87 ERA in 20.1 career innings in the majors, all of which have come in relief, but the 26-year-old lefty remains a starter whenever he's sent back to Triple-A. He's on the 40-man roster and could be an option to start down the stretch, but his 7.44 ERA in 22 career Triple-A starts makes that an unenticing prospect. Chafin and Garcia are now out of the running for potential post-deadline save chances should Kyle Finnegan get traded.

7/30: The Nationals acquire minor-leaguers OF Christian Franklin and SS Ronny Cruz from the Cubs in exchange for SP Michael Soroka.

Nationals fantasy impact: This move creates a hole in the Nationals rotation, which could be filled by the newly-acquired Jake Eder, though he's been optioned to Triple-A Rochester. Other candidates in Rochester on the 40-man roster include Cade Cavalli, who owns a 5.90 ERA in 14 Triple-A starts, and Shinnosuke Ogasawara, who's allowed seven runs in 6.2 innings in his two major-league starts. On the arrivals, Cruz is an 18-year-old in the complex league, but Franklin has spent all year at Triple-A Iowa and owns an .820 OPS, so he could be a candidate for a late-season debut.

7/31: The Nationals acquire minor-leaguers SP Josh Randall and SP R.J. Sales from the Tigers in exchange for RP Kyle Finnegan.

Nationals fantasy impact: Finnegan hasn't posted classic closer number for the Nationals, but he's nonetheless earned 58 of the team's 61 saves over the last two seasons. Jose Ferrer has been the highest-leverage reliever among Washington's remaining options, making him the presumed favorite to close down the stretch, but his 4.78 ERA means his grip on the role won't be a firm one.

7/31: The Nationals acquire minor-leaguers SP Sean Paul Linan (326) and SP Eriq Swan from the Dodgers in exchange for OF Alex Call.

Nationals fantasy impact: Call had been the fourth outfielder in Washington, starting against almost every lefty but only the occasional righty. His departure could leave Daylen Lile with a true everyday role, at least until Dylan Crews (oblique) returns from the 60-day injured list.

NL Central

Chicago Cubs Trades

7/30: The Cubs acquire SP Michael Soroka from the Nationals in exchange for minor-leaguers OF Christian Franklin and SS Ronny Cruz.

Cubs fantasy impact: Soroka gets a nice upgrade in his winning chances and his home park. If he can pitch closer to his 3.60 SIERA than his 4.87 ERA going forward, he'll be a solid mid-rotation option for the Cubs. There could be questions about how many more starts he has left, however, as he's already thrown more innings than he did last season, when he spent much of the year in the bullpen. Ben Brown will likely head to the bullpen or the minors following the deal, and Colin Rea could lose his rotation spot once Jameson Taillon (calf) returns from the injured list, assuming Soroka is able to continue starting.

7/30: The Cubs acquire RP Andrew Kittredge from the Orioles in exchange for minor-league SS Wilfri De La Cruz.

Cubs fantasy impact: Kittredge, who owns a 3.45 ERA on the year and a 2.63 ERA across the last five seasons, gives the Cubs another capable veteran to pitch near the back of their bullpen, though he's unlikely to see save chances. If closer Daniel Palencia hits the injured list, Kittredge would still have to compete with Ryan Pressly, Drew Pomeranz, Brad Keller and Caleb Thielbar.

7/31: The Cubs acquire IF/OF Willi Castro from the Twins in exchange for minor-leaguers SP Ryan Gallagher and SP Sam Armstrong.

Cubs fantasy impact: Castro has been a near-everyday starter for the Twins despite not making more than 28 starts at any one position, appearaing at six different spots on the diamond. Expect him to fill a similar role in Chicago, though it's also possible he steals the third base job from rookie Matt Shaw, who's played better of late but still owns a .644 OPS on the season.

7/31: The Cubs acquire RP Taylor Rogers from the Pirates in exchange for minor-league OF Ivan Brethowr.

Cubs fantasy impact: Rogers has over five times as many career saves (83) as that of incumbent closer Daniel Palencia (15), but Palencia and his 1.40 ERA and 0.88 WHIP aren't going anywhere anytime soon. If Palencia were to get injured, Rogers would be merely one of many veterans with closing experience who could step into the ninth inning, including Andrew Kittredge, Drew Pomeranz, Brad Keller and Caleb Thielbar — but not Ryan Pressly, who lost his roster spot as a result of the Cubs' additions and was designated for assignment on Deadline Day.

Cincinnati Reds Trades

7/30: The Reds acquire 3B Ke'Bryan Hayes from the Pirates in exchange for RP Taylor Rogers and minor-league SS Sammy Stafura (365).

Reds fantasy impact: Hayes is an excellent defender, but his bat never reached the levels it it was expected to when he was a prospect. He peaked at a .762 OPS in 2023 but owns a .571 OPS with just six homers in 196 games since then. A big improvement in home park factors should give him a boost going forward, but he needs more than just better park factors to become an interesting fantasy option. Noelvi Marte had been the Reds' primary third baseman recently, but he'll now have to fight for playing time elsewhere. Marte is starting in right field Wednesday against the Dodgers, which could hint at fewer at-bats for Jake Fraley going forward.

7/30: The Reds acquire SP Zack Littell from the Rays in a three-team deal which sent minor-league SP Brian Van Belle to the Rays and minor-league SP Adam Serwinowski to the Dodgers. The Rays acquired minor-league C Hunter Feduccia from the Dodgers in exchange for minor-leaguers C Ben Rortvedt and RP Paul Gervase in the same trade.

Reds fantasy impact: A move to Cincinnati typically means a move to a much worse park for most pitchers, but Littell has managed a 3.58 ERA this season despite the fact that his home starts have come in a hitter-friendly minor-league park. His arrival creates a crowd in the Reds' rotation, which could send Nick Martinez to the bullpen or Chase Burns to the minors. With Hunter Greene (groin) two starts into a rehab assignment, things could get even more crowded soon.

7/31: The Reds acquire 3B/OF Miguel Andujar from the Athletics in exchange for minor-league SP Kenya Huggins.

Reds fantasy impact: Andujar will get to call a very hitter-friendly park home after the deadline, but that was true before the deadline as well given that he played his home games in a minor-league park in Sacramento. He could also be set for a downgrade in playing time, as the Reds acquired another third baseman (Ke'Bryan Hayes) at the deadline. He could wind up competing with Spencer Steer for starts as a right-handed first base/corner outfield option.

Milwaukee Brewers Trades

7/28: The Brewers acquire C Danny Jansen from the Rays in exchange for minor-league 2B/SS Jadher Areinamo.

Brewers fantasy impact: This looks like a big playing-time downgrade for Jansen, who goes from being the primary catcher in Tampa Bay to backing up William Contreras in Milwaukee, who leads the league in starts behind the plate this season. The Brewers likely want to give Contreras more rest, as he's been playing through a broken finger for much of the season and hasn't been the same at the plate as a result, but even if Jansen plays more than Eric Haase has so far, he still won't play as often as he did with the Rays.

7/31: The Brewers acquire minor-league OF Brandon Lockridge from the Padres in exchange for SP Nestor Cortes and minor-league SS Jorge Quintana.

Brewers fantasy impact: Cortes has been out since early April with a flexor strain and didn't necessarily have a starting spot to come back to thanks to Jacob Misiorowski's arrival and Quinn Priester's breakout. This deal means Logan Henderson could still be just one injury away from returning to the big-league rotation. Lockridge has good speed and a good glove, but he owns a career .528 OPS in 59 MLB games and is unlikely to find himself in a fantasy-relevant role if and when he returns to the majors.

7/31: The Brewers acquire RP Shelby Miller and SP Jordan Montgomery from the Diamondbacks in exchange for cash considerations or a player to be named later.

Brewers fantasy impact: Montgomery is only in this deal as salary relief, as his contract is up this winter but he won't be recovered from Tommy John surgery until next summer. Absorbing his contract allows the Brewers to pick up a nice high-leverage relief option in Miller, who owns a 1.98 ERA and 0.96 WHIP on the season but is unlikely to bump Trevor Megill from the closer job. Miller has also been out since early July with a forearm strain, but he recently begun throwing bullpens.

Pittsburgh Pirates Trades

7/17: The Pirates acquire minor-league SS Cam Devanney from the Royals in exchange for 2B/LF Adam Frazier.

Pirates fantasy impact: Minimal. Frazier had already fallen into a bench role in Pittsburgh, with Nick Gonzales starting at second base and Tommy Pham starting in left field.

7/30: The Pirates acquire RP Taylor Rogers and minor-league SS Sammy Stafura from the Pirates in exchange for 3B Ke'Bryan Hayes.

Pirates fantasy impact: The acquisition of Rogers is a potentially significant one, as he could close games for the Pirates down the stretch if both David Bednar and Dennis Santana are traded. Of course, with Rogers on an expiring deal and the Pirates not contending, it's possible Rogers will be on the move again shortly. Over at third base, Jared Triolo has been recalled and is expected to take Hayes' place. The 27-year-old owns a career .638 OPS in 234 major-league games. Liover Peguero (.663 OPS in 72 career games) could also be an option.

7/30: The Pirates acquire minor-league SP Jeter Martinez from the Mariners in exchange for RP Caleb Ferguson.

Pirates fantasy impact: Ferguson was potentially a candidate to pick up saves in Pittsburgh after the deadline if both David Bednar and Dennis Santana leave town, so this move takes him out of that mix. The top options now look like Isaac Mattson and the newly-acquired Taylor Rogers.

7/31: The Pirates acquire minor-leaguers C Rafael Flores, OF Brian Sanchez and C Edgleen Perez from the Yankees in exchange for RP David Bednar.

Pirates fantasy impact: Bednar was demoted in early April after a very poor start to the year but quickly righted the ship and reclaimed the closer role. That job could now go to Dennis Santana, though he's likely to be dealt today as well. Taylor Rogers could be the closer for the final two months if he remains with Pittsburgh, or perhaps the job could go to Isaac Mattson

7/31: The Pirates acquire minor-leaguers RP Evan Sisk and 1B Callan Moss from the Royals in exchange for SP Bailey Falter.

Pirates fantasy impact: Falter's departure finally clears a rotation spot for Bubba Chandler, but he owns a 7.36 ERA over his last three starts and isn't making a good case for promotion. He's also not yet on the 40-man roster, which could cause the Pirates to look elsewhere, perhaps moving Braxton Ashcraft or Carmen Mlodzinski from the bullpen to the rotation or recalling Thomas Harrington.

7/31: The Pirates acquire minor-league OF Ivan Brethowr from the Cubs in exchange for RP Taylor Rogers.

Pirates fantasy impact: Rogers spent one day as a member of the Pirates and did not throw a pitch. With his departure joining David Bednar's, that seemingly leaves the ninth inning to Dennis Santana, who somewhat surprisingly will be sticking around.

St. Louis Cardinals Trades

7/27: The Cardinals acquire cash considerations from the Braves in exchange for SP Erick Fedde.

Cardinals fantasy impact: The Cardinals designated Fedde for assignment shortly before the trade, so this deal has minimal implications. Michael McGreevy will step into Fedde's rotation spot the rest of the way, though that was already true once Fedde was removed from the major-league roster.

7/30: The Cardinals acquire minor-leaguers SS Jesus Baez (335), SP Nate Dohm and SP Frank Elissalt from the Mets in exchange for RP Ryan Helsley.

Cardinals fantasy impact: Helsley's absence leaves a hole in the ninth inning for the Cardinals, and it won't be clear who's the likeliest to fill it until Thursday evening at the earliest. For now, Phil Maton looks like the next man up, but he's on an expiring contract as well and is likely to be traded himself. JoJo Romero, Kyle Leahy and Riley O'Brien could be candidates if they remain on the roster.

7/30: The Cardinals acquire minor-league 1B Blaze Jordan (241) from the Red Sox in exchange for RP Steven Matz.

Cardinals fantasy impact: Matz has been effective out of the bullpen for the Cardinals this season but wasn't pitching in a high-leverage role, so this won't affect the Cardinals' rotation nor their closer picture. Jordan owns an .809 OPS since being promoted to Triple-A in early June, but he's not on the 40-man roster, so the Cardinals aren't incentivized to rush his promotion.

7/31: The Cardinals acquire minor-leaguers SP Mason Molina and RP Skylar Hales as well as international bonus pool money from the Rangers in exchange for RP Phil Maton.

Cardinals fantasy impact: Maton would have been a candidate to close following the departure of Ryan Helsley, but the Cardinals will now have to look elsewhere. JoJo Romero, Riley O'Brien and Gordon Graceffo look like the top candidates.

NL West

Arizona Diamondbacks Trades

7/24: The Diamondbacks acquire minor-leaguers RP Brandyn Garcia and SP Ashton Izzi from the Mariners in exchange for first baseman Josh Naylor.

Diamondbacks fantasy impact: The main beneficiary of this move looks to be Adrian Del Castillo. The 25-year-old was recently called up after missing most of the season with shoulder and back issues and has been serving as the strong side of a platoon at designated hitter. He would have been set to lose those at-bats once Pavin Smith (oblique) returns from the injured list, but with Naylor out the door, Smith can play first base while Del Castillo serves as the DH. Garcia, who recently made his MLB debut before being sent back down, could feature in Arizona's depleted bullpen but won't yet be ready for high-leverage innings.

7/26: The Diamondbacks acquire minor-league RP Andrew Hoffmann from the Royals in exchange for OF Randal Grichuk.

Diamondbacks fantasy impact: Grichuk has mostly been limited to starts against lefties this season, most recently in a sort of platoon with Alek Thomas which saw Grichuk starting in right field against lefties and Thomas starting in center field against righties, with Corbin Carroll taking whichever spot was left unoccupied. Carroll will now likely play right field full time, with one of Thomas or Jack McCarthy starting in center field against lefties despite the platoon disadvantage. Hoffmann made his first three MLB appearances this season and could help out a depleted Arizona bullpen down the stretch but is unlikely to be tasked with high-leverage innings.

7/30: The Diamondbacks acquire 1B Tyler Locklear and minor-leaguers RP Juan Burgos and RP Hunter Cranton from the Mariners in exchange for 3B Eugenio Suarez.

Diamondbacks fantasy impact: The Diamondbacks' remaining hitters all lose a little bit of value from the fact that Suarez and his league-leading 87-RBI bat will no longer be able to drive them in. The deal leaves a hole at third base which will likely be filled by Blake Alexander in the short term, with Jordan Lawlar eventually taking over once he recovers from the Grade 1 hamstring strain he suffered in late June. Locklear was promoted mere hours before the trade was completed after posting a .943 OPS for Triple-A Tacoma. He could be the one to take Josh Naylor's spot at first base down the stretch.

7/31: The Diamondbacks acquire minor-leaguers SP Kohl Drake (118), SP Mitch Bratt (199) and SP David Hagaman from the Rangers in exchange for SP Merrill Kelly.

Diamondbacks fantasy impact: Kelly's departure opens a spot in the Arizona rotation, and it's possible one of the pitchers acquired in this deal could fill it. Drake was recently promoted to Triple-A while Bratt has spent the year at Double-A, though neither is on the 40-man roster, so their debuts may have to wait. Yilber Diaz and Bryce Jarvis are on the 40-man roster and in the Triple-A rotation, though they have ERAs of 11.63 and 7.34 at that level, respectively.

7/31: The Diamonbacks acquire cash considerations or a player to be named later from the Brewers in exchange for RP Shelby Miller and SP Jordan Montgomery.

Diamondbacks fantasy impact: Miller had stepped into the closer role in an injury-depleted bullpen and picked up 10 saves before going down with a forearm strain in early July. He would have had a chance to reclaim that title upon his return, but Kevin Ginkel now looks like the favorite to close the rest of the way.

Colorado Rockies Trades

7/25: The Rockies acquire minor-leaguers SP Griffin Herring and SP Josh Grosz from the Yankees in exchange for 3B Ryan McMahon.

Rockies fantasy impact: The move weakens an already weak Rockies lineup, though perhaps not by much, as McMahon was in the midst of a down year with a modest .714 OPS. Utility infielders Kyle Farmer (.607 OPS) and Orlando Arcia (.473 OPS) are the likeliest candidates to start at third base over the final two months unless the Rockies call up Kyle Karros, who's hit well in the minors this season but was only just promoted to Triple-A one week ago.

7/30: The Rockies acquire minor-league RP Austin Smith from the Braves in exhange for RP Tyler Kinley.

Rockies fantasy impact: Kinley was third on the Rockies with three saves. With Zach Agnos (four saves) out with a flexor strain, Kinley could have been a candidate to take over in the ninth inning in the event Seth Halvorsen gets traded. Victor Vodnik (two saves) now looks like the favorite instead.

7/31: The Rockies acquire minor-leaguers SP Ben Shields and OF Roc Riggio from the Yankees in exchange for RP Jake Bird.

Rockies fantasy impact: Minimal. Bird hadn't saved any games for the Rockies this season, so this move doesn't alter the team's closer picture.

Los Angeles Dodgers Trades

7/30: The Dodgers acquire minor-leaguers C Ben Rortvedt and RP Paul Gervase from the Rays and minor-league SP Adam Serwinowksi from the Reds in a three-team deal which sent minor-league C Hunter Feduccia to the Rays. The Reds acquired SP Zack Littell from the Rays in exchange for minor-league SP Brian Van Belle in the same trade.

Dodgers fantasy impact: Next to none. Rortvedt will now take Feduccia's place as catching depth in Triple-A, while Gervase, who made five big-league relief appearances for the Rays, could throw some low-leverage innings.

7/31: The Dodgers acquire RP Brock Stewart from the Twins in exchange for minor-league OF James Outman.

Dodgers fantasy impact: Stewart broke into the majors with the Dodgers back in 2016 as a swingman but has strictly pitched out of the bullpen since 2019. He's having an excellent season, with a 2.38 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 29.5 percent strikeout rate, which could even earn him the occasional save chance in a fluid Dodgers bullpen.

7/31: The Dodgers acquire minor-league OF James Tibbs from the Red Sox in exchange for SP Dustin May.

Dodgers fantasy impact: This move technically doesn't open up any spots in the Dodgers' rotation, as it was announced that May was moving to the bullpen a day prior to the trade. Blake Snell is set to return from a shoulder injury Saturday, giving the Dodgers a full rotation again.

7/31: The Dodgers acquire OF Alex Call from the Nationals in exchange for minor-leaguers SP Sean Paul Linan (326) and SP Eriq Swan.

Dodgers fantasy impact: Call had mostly been starting against lefties in Washington, and that's likely the role he'll be filling in Los Angeles. Michael Conforto owns a poor .652 OPS on the season, which could open up at-bats in left field against right-handers as well, though he's picked things up lately with an .871 OPS in his last 27 games.

San Diego Padres Trades

7/31: The Padres acquire RP Mason Miller and SP JP Sears from the Athletics in exchange for minor-leaguers SS Leo De Vries (3), SP Henry Baez (389), SP Braden Nett (397) and RP Eduarniel Nunez.

Padres fantasy impact: The Padres make the biggest splash of the deadline thus far, trading one of the top prospects in all of baseball and receiving a star closer who's under contract through 2029. Miller doesn't exactly fill a need, however, as the Padres already have the best bullpen ERA in baseball (2.97) and an excellent incumbent closer in Robert Suarez (3.43 ERA, 30 saves). Miller's arrival presumably pushes Suarez undeservedly into a setup role, though it could also signal that a Suarez trade is coming.

As for Miller himself, the deal represents a huge upgrade in home park factors compared to the minor-league park in Sacramento, and it also should give him more save opportunities, provided he's used as a traditional closer and isn't forced to cede any saves to Suarez. Sears will also enjoy the same huge upgrade in home park and should find wins much easier to come by as well. His arrival bumps one of Ryan Bergert or Randy Vasquez from the rotation, with the other set to lose his spot once Michael King (shoulder) gets healthy.

7/31: The Padres acquire C Freddy Fermin from the Royals in exchange for SP Ryan Bergert and minor-league SP Stephen Kolek.

Padres fantasy impact: Fermin had been the second catcher in Kansas City behind Salvador Perez, though he started nearly half the Royals' games with Perez frequently featuring at first base or designated hitter. His .648 OPS arguably means he fits best as a backup, but he has a path to the top job in San Diego, where the incumbents Elias Diaz (.576 OPS) and Martin Maldonado (.572 OPS) have been even worse. The move eliminates two rotation depth options for the Padres, one of whom (Bergert) had been the fifth starter immediaely prior to the trade. That role will now be filled by new arrival JP Sears.

7/31: The Padres acquire 1B/OF Ryan O'Hearn and OF Ramon Laureano from the Orioles in exchange for minor-leaguers 1B Victor Figueroa (139), SP Boston Bateman (293), SS Cobb Hightower, SS Brandon Butterworth, RP Tanner Smith and RP Tyson Neighbors.

Padres fantasy impact: The Padres add two quality bats to their lineup in a move which could spell trouble for Gavin Sheets. Laureano (.884 OPS) has hit too well to be stuck on the short side of a platoon, yet Sheets' left field position is seemingly the only one available to Laureano, with Jackson Merrill and Fernando Tatis locking down the other two outfield spots. Sheets could move to designated hitter, but that spot will now presumably be filled by Luis Arraez, with O'Hearn taking Arraez's spot at first base. Sheets started the year strong but owns a .562 OPS since the start of July, so perhaps a bench role suits him best.

7/31: The Padres acquire 3B Will Wagner from the Blue Jays in exchange for minor-league C Brandon Valenzuela.

Padres fantasy impact: Wagner has struggled to a .634 OPS in 40 games this season but had been earning regular starts in the corner infield in recent weeks in Toronto. He'll find playing time much harder to come by in San Diego, with Manny Machado occupying third base and new arrival Ryan O'Hearn likely to start at first.

7/31: The Padres acquire SP Nestor Cortes and minor-league SS Jorge Quintana from the Brewers in exchange for minor-league OF Brandon Lockridge.

Padres fantasy impact: Cortes is near the end of his rehab assignment as he works his way back from a flexor strain, but he may have found himself crowded out of a deep Brewers rotation which has seen multiple call-ups and breakouts since he hit the injured list back in April. He should find starts easier to come by in San Diego and will likely displace either Randy Vasquez or fellow new arrival J.P. Sears once healthy.

San Francisco Giants Trades

6/15: The Giants acquire DH Rafael Devers from the Red Sox in exchange for SP Kyle Harrison, RP Jordan Hicks and minor-leaguers OF James Tibbs and SP Jose Bello.

Giants fantasy impact: Moving from one of the league's best hitters' parks to one of its best pitchers' parks is a big downgrade for Devers himself, though adding one of the league's top sluggers to the heart of the order should boost the RBI and run-scoring chances of the hitters around him. Devers' arrival does mean fewer at-bats for Wilmer Flores, who's gone from full-time DH to splitting time at first base with Dominic Smith. Dealing away two major-league pitchers has thinned the Giants' rotation depth, reducing Hayden Birdsong's competition for the fifth starter spot. If an injury opens up a rotation spot, Carson Whisenhunt could now be the next man up.

7/30: The Giants acquire RP Jose Butto and minor-leaguers SP Blade Tidwell (364) and OF Drew Gilbert (380) from the Mets in exchange for RP Tyler Rogers.

Giants fantasy impact: Both Butto and Tidwell could be rotation options for the Giants down the stretch, with San Francisco struggling for depth after the Devers trade, Hayden Birdsong's demotion and Landen Roupp's elbow injury. Butto has exclusively pitched out of the pen this season, but he has a 3.76 ERA in 17 career starts. Tidwell owns a 9.00 ERA and 2.20 WHIP through his first 15 major-league innings but a much better (if still unimpressive) 4.10 ERA at the Triple-A level. Gilbert has a .780 OPS for Triple-A Syracuse and could be a candidate for a late-season promotion, though he's not on the 40-man roster yet.

7/31: The Giants acquire minor-leaguers C Jesus Rodriguez (354), 3B Parks Harber and SP Trystan Vrieling from the Yankees in exchange for RP Camilo Doval.

Giants fantasy impact: Doval endured some struggles last season but reestablished himself as the Giants' closer this year, saving 15 games with a 3.09 ERA prior to the move. Ryan Walker, who took the job from Doval last season and saved 10 more games this year, could be the top option in his absence, though the role could also go to Randy Rodriguez, who owns an outstanding 1.20 ERA and 0.84 WHIP on the season.

7/31: The Giants acquire minor-league SP Yunior Marte from the Royals in exchange for OF Mike Yastrzemski.

Giants fantasy impact: Yastrzemski's exit will open up at-bats against right-handers in right field. Those at-bats will likely go to Luis Matos, who had been Yastrzemski's platoon partner, or the Giants could ask the lefty Dominic Smith to start some games in the outfield, something he hasn't done since 2021. The Gianst also have three left-handed outfielders — Daniel Johnson, Grant McCray and Wade Meckler — on the 40-man roster at Triple-A Sacramento.
