Weekly Pitcher Rankings: Play Ball!

Weekly Pitcher Rankings: Play Ball!

This article is part of our Weekly Pitcher Rankings series.

It was little more than five month ago, but it feels more like five years. BASEBALL IS BACK! And so is the Rotowire Pitching Rankings. For those new to the site, look for a primer in The Z Files later this week. In brief, I consider the quality of pitcher, quality of opponent and venue. Once there is ample in-season data, the recent performance of pitcher and opponent gets rolled in.

The ranking are for standard 5x5 roto. Points leagues players should come up with a reasonable projection for their pitchers each week, then convert that to points to rank their staff, and possible free agents.

Returnees will note I am not including non-closing relievers in the four- and 11-day rankings. They will return Saturday for the standard seven-day rankings. In four-day leagues, you probably don't need to make a decision — you'll want a pitcher active in every open spot since you likely have some starters not scheduled this weekend. In 11-day leagues, you'll rarely need to start a reliever with so many two-start options.

Apologies for the paucity of comments. I wanted to get these posted as fast as possible.
